Our path to carbon neutrality

At UNIS Group, we are deeply committed to contributing to a sustainable, carbon-neutral future. As part of our efforts to achieve this, we began working with Climate Neutral Group in 2023. Climate Neutral Group supports 3,000 organisations in 23 countries in their efforts to offset carbon and improve the quality of life for people worldwide. Carbon, or CO₂, is a key measure of the extent to which greenhouse gases affect global warming.

The carbon footprint calculated for 2022 will be fully offset by two sustainability projects:

1. Combination of forestation projects

Afforestation and reforestation play an important role in combating climate change by storing carbon dioxide and restoring biodiversity. Afforestation focuses on creating new forests, while reforestation replants lost forests. Both help restore ecosystems, reduce erosion and improve living conditions for local communities. Climate Neutral Group supports these forestation projects, promoting reliable carbon offsetting and sustainable growth.

2. Sustainable green energy

UNIS Group collaborates with Climate Neutral Group to invest in renewable energy projects like solar and wind power. These projects help reduce carbon emissions and promote socio-economic development. They provide reliable offsets and support a carbon-neutral future. Climate Neutral Group monitors the quality of these initiatives.

The road to low carbon – in four steps

The process of ensuring that UNIS Group transitions to carbon neutrality involves the following steps:

  1. Calculating our current carbon footprint. This helps determine what and how much needs to be done to become carbon neutral;
  2. Reducing our carbon footprint. UNIS Group's employees are trained to set goals, monitor, report, and ensure everyone is informed about ongoing processes;
  3. Offsetting remaining carbon emissions. How does Co₂ offsetting fit into a sustainability policy that prioritises reduction, and where is offsetting implemented?
  4. Qualifying for the 'Climate Neutral Certified' label, which is aligned with the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.

Certificate

In 2024, UNIS Group began calculating its 2023 carbon footprint in collaboration with Climate Neutral Group. UNIS Group demonstrates a clear understanding of both its annual carbon dioxide emissions and appropriate strategies to reduce them. We remain committed to generating the lowest possible carbon footprint and contributing to a sustainable future!
